How to check IMEI?
The manufacturer is obliged to supply each unit of equipment with a unique serial number, considering that with the help of a special device, one can find out the “contact” information of the goods - the country of manufacture, the date of manufacture, information about the manufacturer. Mobile phones are also supplied with a serial code, but, in addition, they also have an International identifier - IMEI, unique for each item. This article will tell you how to check the IMEI of the phone and why to check it.
Why do you need IMEI?
IMEI is "sewn into" the phone during its manufacture at the factory. The mobile device transmits IMEI to the operator to authenticate itself in its network. The IMEI format is the same, but all international identifiers are unique, and therefore IMEI can be used to track and block stolen phones. For example, the operator can "connect" to the stolen device and deny him access to the options. However, unfortunately, nothing prevents an attacker from buying a SIM card from another operator, in whose network he has not been authorized before, and to use all services calmly.
The IMEI of the phone is usually printed on the package of the device and duplicated on its case - sometimes on the outer part visible to the user's eyes, sometimes inside it. But even if you do not see the IMEI on the case, and the box from the phone has long been lost, you have the opportunity to determine the IMEI. Just dial on the phone the combination * # 06 #, then press the call button, and IMEI will be displayed on the display. It is a 15-digit code, recorded without spaces or punctuation.
After you learn IMEI, you can go to one of the international ID verification services, for example, select the model of your device, enter IMEI and get information about the device. In addition to the parameters and data about the manufacturer, you can also find out if the phone is listed as stolen or lost.
Such services also help to verify the authenticity of IMEI: if the international identifier you specify is fake, the service will notify you of this.
